Your Leisure Kent Limited - Modern Slavery Statement April 2025

Introduction

This statement is made pursuant to Section 54 of the UK Modern Slavery Act 2015 and outlines the steps Your Leisure Kent Ltd has taken to prevent modern slavery in our operations and supply chains for the financial year ending 31st March 2026.

We are committed to upholding human rights and ensuring that modern slavery, in any form, does not take place within our business or our supply chain.

Our Organisation

Your Leisure Kent Ltd is a not-for-profit charitable trust operating leisure facilities across East Kent. Our services include the management of gyms, swimming pools, sports facilities and community projects. Our mission is to improve the health and wellbeing of the communities we serve through accessible, inclusive, and high-quality leisure opportunities.

We currently employ approximately 200 employees and engage with a variety of contractors, suppliers, and partners.

Our Supply Chains

Our supply chains include providers of:
- Sports and fitness equipment
- Uniforms and merchandise
- Facility maintenance and cleaning services
- IT systems and software
- Catering and vending services
- Agency staffing and recruitment

We recognise that some areas, such as temporary staffing and goods sourced from overseas, present higher risks of modern slavery.

Policies and Commitments

We maintain the following policies to identify and prevent modern slavery:
- Procurement and Ethical Sourcing Policy – ensures suppliers adhere to ethical labour practices.
- Whistleblowing Policy – enables employees to report concerns, including those related to modern slavery.
- Code of Conduct – sets expectations for all employees and contractors to act ethically and with integrity.
- Safeguarding Policy – reinforces our commitment to protecting vulnerable individuals.

Due Diligence and Risk Management

We have begun to risk assess our supply chains and are prioritising higher-risk categories for further scrutiny. Our approach includes:
- Identifying high-risk suppliers based on geography and industry sector
- Requesting modern slavery statements from key suppliers
- Including anti-slavery clauses in new contracts where appropriate
- Conducting spot checks or supplier audits where feasible

Training and Awareness

We provide training to relevant employees, predominantly in procurement and HR roles, to raise awareness of the signs of modern slavery and how to respond appropriately. We have the potential to expand this training to all employees over time.

Measuring Effectiveness

To monitor progress, we will:
- Track the completion of employee training
- Record and review any modern slavery concerns raised
- Evaluate supplier compliance through annual reviews
- Strengthen reporting mechanisms and internal controls

Future Steps

Over the coming year, we will:
- Expand our risk assessments to cover more suppliers
- Develop a supplier code of conduct
- Introduce a supplier self-assessment questionnaire on ethical practices
- Continue or expand employee training on modern slavery awareness as appropriate

Approval
